This course is an introduction to the DAX (Data Analysis Expression) language, used by Power Pivot and Power BI Desktop. Mastery of this language enables users of these two solutions to create flexible, easy-to-update dashboards, as well as advanced, relevant data visualizations. We recommend that you first take our Power BI training series.

This online training course lasts approximately 6 hours (3 hours of video and about 3 hours of exercises).

This training is available in asynchronous online format directly on our web platform. The training will be supported by alternating video clips and exercises.
An entry evaluation will be carried out at the start of the course. A final assessment after each training module will validate the achievement of pedagogical objectives. The pass mark is 75 %.

The average score for learners who have completed the course is 78 %.

Before taking this course, learners should first have taken our Power BI (Level 3) training, or have passed the associated online quiz with more than 70%.
Each learner must have access to a portable computer equipped with Power BI Desktop. You can find the free version of Power BI Desktop here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=45331. Note: This course is offered via Power BI Desktop, but is also aimed at Power Pivot users in Excel. Therefore, learners who are not familiar with Power BI Desktop, but who use Power Pivot in Excel, will be able to transfer the concepts learned to Power Pivot for Excel without difficulty.
Course registration includes:
  • a PDF document with step by step instructions to build the course report
  • a data model from which to create calculated columns and measurements in DAX
  • a data model with calculated columns and measurements in DAX (solved exercises)
  • a summary of the most frequently used DAX functions (checklist)
  • a forum to ask questions
At the end of this training, when all the lessons and quizzes are completed, the learner will be able to download a certificate of completion. This certificate will include the trainer's Emploi-Québec accreditation number, the participant's name, the title and date of the training, the number of hours of training completed, the number of Continuing Education Units (CEUs), as well as the name and signature of the trainer. This certificate meets the requirements of the continuing education obligations of the Quebec professional orders. For private training (via Teams), the certificate will be sent to the learner by email following the completion of the training.

This training qualifies for 0.6 continuing education units (CEUs).
