Sachez que toutes nos rencontres se déroulent dans les bureaux de Microsoft, à Montréal, en soirée, pendant les jours de semaine afin d’accommoder le plus grand nombre de personnes. Nous avons le bonheur de vous annoncer que ces rencontres sont désormais gratuites. Et ce mois-ci, on parlera de modélisation dimensionnelle dans Power BI et Power Pivot.

Première partie : Power BI Hackathon
Pour débuter la saison en beauté, nous recevrons d’abord l’équipe d’Hydro-Québec, gagnante de notre Power BI Hackathon local de juillet. Elle nous présentera son rapport sur BIXI Montréal.
Deuxième partie : Modélisation dimensionnelle
En deuxième, partie, nous recevrons de la visite de la Colombie-Britannique, M. Ken Puls, mieux connu sous le nom de Excel Guru.

Abstract:
As an self service BI user, you’ve probably been building Pivot Tables for years… but do you know the difference between a Fact and a Dimension? The reality is that PivotTables have done a great job of protecting us from needing to understand proper data modeling, but in modern Excel and Power BI that has changed.
In this session we will look at understanding the benefits of dimensional modeling in Power Pivot and Power BI. We will define and review key terms and best practices, and show you how to use Power Query to reshape, split and combine tables into their proper tabular formats for a model.
